Outdoor activities in Northwest Norway
Northwest Folk High School is located in an eldorado for outdoor activities, and with us you can choose between several different outdoor activities.
With so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to figure out which outdoor activity program is best for you and your year at folk high school. That's why we've tried to make choosing an outdoor activity program at school a little easier by writing a little about what sets the different programs apart, as well as what they require in terms of equipment and prior knowledge.
No matter which line you land on, at Northwest Norway FHS you will get a year in optimal surroundings for outdoor activities.

Choices
You can choose between four different lines. To get started with your choice, you will find a brief summary of the different lines here:
Basecamp Northwest Norway:
This is a varied outdoor life line that uses the unique nature of Northwest Norway to test a wide range of activities, including top skiing, wave surfing, climbing and sea kayaking. The main focus is on practical learning and safe travel, where you get certifications such as Brattkort and Våttkort through trips adapted to all seasons.
Powder Surf - Japan:
This is an action-packed line for those who love skiing and are excited to learn to surf, regardless of your experience level. The year focuses on adrenaline-filled experiences and skill development on snow and water, culminating in a study trip to Japan to hunt powder snow.
Outdoor Activities Explore:
This line focuses on a versatile and traditional outdoor life, where the goal is to become genuinely good at being outside through trips to the mountains, forests and sea in all kinds of weather. Based "in the middle of the buttery Norwegian nature", the emphasis is on basic skills, trip planning and expedition life, which involves many nights in tents and cabins.
Diving:
This is a combination course that takes place in the fall semester, where you get the PADI Open Water Diver certificate and learn freediving and spearfishing. It is chosen together with another main course that you follow all year, and the teaching takes advantage of the high season with the best visibility in the renowned diving areas at Hustadvika.
